Casio is a Japanese multinational consumer electronics and commercial electronics manufacturing company. The company was founded in 1946 by an engineer, Tadao Kashio, as an accessory business for his brother's radio repair shop. Casio is best known for its electronic musical instruments and calculators, but it also produces other consumer electronics such as watches, digital cameras, mobile phones, electronic dictionaries and cash registers.

In the 1950s Casio produced the world's first all-electric compact calculator and then developed one of the world's first commercially successful digital watches in 1974.
